About

My path to this work has been a circuitous one, and I'm grateful for the life experience I've gained along the way.

I draw from my background teaching English Literature as a graduate student at the University of Washington, reporting and writing for Newsweek Magazine in New York, and later for the Seattle Weekly, and directing the Marketing Program at The Northwest School. And parenting three children, including twins, has given me a deep interest in issues of attachment, identity, role change, and perinatal loss.

I have a Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Washington, and a Master’s degree in Psychology from Antioch University Seattle. Postgraduate training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy has led me to become part of the Program Assistant staff that helps train other therapists in IFS. I see clients in my online private practice.

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
Some momentary awareness
Comes as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
